City with well-preserved architecture and culture that is conveyed through the generations. Also known as “The city of the consuls” for primacy which had during the Ottoman Empire.
Cultural sights of the city are covered market, clock tower, the old bazaar and mosques and churches from the 15th and 16th century. They are located along the pedestrian street Shirok Sokak, where restaurants and coffee bars are an integral part of everyday life in Bitola.
Near Bitola is the ancient city of Heracles Linkestis built by Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The city has a well preserved mosaics and basilicas since ancient time, as the theatre and courtroom since Roman times.
